what is faith and how to use it?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 ( kjv)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 ( kjv)

I was in bible study one Wednesday, and the teacher was teaching from Hebrews 11:1 and he pointed out something interesting.   .He said that, some people read the scripture without acknowledging the word now before faith, and that  it's important to remember to use the word now so it reads now faith, in the present tense. Have you ever heard someone quote the scripture without saying now faith first? Some people have very little understanding of this one verse, so I want to share what I've learned by   giving you examples of what  faith is,  and how it will help you in life.
With  faith, you believe even though you don't actually see it.
If you have faith in almighty God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob you have the assurance and convictions that he will answer your requests  according to your faith.For example; I work all week long before I get paid, but I have faith that I'm going to reap the rewards of my labor in two weeks. Another example;  I am getting ready to eat a delicious red apple, but I don;t know how it's going to taste, but,  I have faith that a red apple is going to be sweet when bite into it.  These are examples of the kind of faith that our heavenly father wants us to have in his holy word.  He wants us to believe that no weapon formed against us shall be able to prosper. He wants us to receive his unconditional love by faith, his healing by faith, his anointing by faith, his power by faith, and eternal life by faith.

When someone  turn from sin and turn their life e over to the Lord, They must  have faith to believe that you have been born again,washed them and cleansed them from all unrighteousness, praise the living God and then after they believe, they must act on it because faith without works is dead. Pray my strength in the Lord,

Six months into my pregnancy

I want to share my surprising and unexpected  pregnancy experience I endured with my first and only child that I didn't dream in a million years would happen to me.  Early one morning,  I started feeling light cramps in my stomach. It felt like i had too use the stool, so I went to the stool but nothing happened. As the day went by, I noticed the cramps hadn't left and i thought it was odd, so my husband and I went for a walk to see if that would help any, but it didn't.  Nothing relieved the cramps. By the time night fell, I had to make a decision about what I was going to do about my situation.  Get this, it never entered into my mind that I could be going into labor, and that's exactly what was happening, but I didn't know it until i went to my doctor. When my doctor checked me out, he told me that I'd dilated three centimeters already! wow and shock is what I thought and felt! To make a long story short, I was sent to another hospital and ended up having our precious baby boy early that next morning because the doctor couldn't stop the baby from coming.  When our son, Dallas P. Douglas Jr. came out, he was fully developed but weighed only 2 lbs 3 ounces with a head full of hair! I say that jokingly because if he was full term, his hair would have been like a wig!!!I am so happy and proud that God had mercy on me, opened my wombs, and blessed me to be able to experience mother hood!
 Everyone of my friends  was so happy for me because they knew that I wanted a child of my own, but most importantly, we were excited as well as thankful too the Lord for answering our prayers!! I don't think I mentioned this, but I thought I couldn't have any children because I didn't have any the whole twelve years I was with my first husband, and things turned around a year after I met and married  my second husband.  I thank the Lord daily for my miracle baby! He's the baby that was in my stomach when I was in a car accident, and the baby I thought I'd never have. The only thing I regret is that I wasn't able to take pictures of my stomach because I went into preterm labor.
 Thanks for reading my life story,feel free to comment and stay tuned for more updates.

The unexpected happened

While traveling from work not thinking about anything except trying to get home as fast as I can because I was tired, low and behold, less than one hundred feet from home, I got the scare of my life! A car from out of nowhere, crushed my car from the side where I was driving! That was the first and only accident I ever had or ever was involved in.  For a minute there, I guess I was in a comma because everything was black!  I could hear people talking to me, but I couldn't see a thing.  I remember hearing the rescue workers telling me that I was hit hard by another car, and I remember telling them that I was pregnant.  Since I was pregnant, they didn't want to take any chances, so they air lifted me to the nearest hospital!  I think we got there in less than five minutes. They took me into the emergency department, checked me out then checked my baby out. They told me that my baby was doing well! I believe it was the grace of God that kept me and my child from losing our lives that day.  I know that God has angels place all around us and keeps us safe as we journey through our lives! I also want to add that, it's a wise idea to keep your trust and hopes in God because you never know when something like this might occur!  Stay tuned for more posts to come as I unfold my pregnancy and parenting experiences.

Why does Everyone Needs 3 Homes?

One may ask, What is a home?  A home is a place where you feel loved, a place where you feel safe, a place to spend time with those you love, a place to find rest, and a place to strengthen your relationships.  My prayer is that you have a home in which you are able to experience these things.

The bible tells us that we can know for sure that we have a heavenly home.
  1.  Romans 3:23 tells us that we are all sinners saved by grace.
  2. Romans 6: 23 tells us that there is a price to be paid for our sins, and that price is death.  Of course, we all must die, but Revelation 20:14 states that death and hell were cast into the lake of fire and this is the second death.
  3. Romans 6:23 also tells us the good news that the payment for sin's price has been made available as a free gift from Jesus Christ.
  4. Romans 5:8 gives us the good news that Christ paid the payment for sin by his death on the cross.
  5. Romans 10:13 tells us that whosoever, MEANING YOU, will call upon Christ to accept his gift, shall be saved!
My question to you is, Have you accepted his gift?  1 John 5:13 says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

Fifty Words To Use To Help Children Feel Loved and Valued

Of course every parent wants their children to feel valued, but sometimes we don't know the exact words to say to make them feel valued and loved.  During my training as a preschool teacher, I learned some valuable lessons about helping a child feel valuable, respected, and loved unconditionally.

At a  training session, our instructor gave everyone a sheet of paper that names at least  fifty ways to help your child feel good about themselves, but, before we could use these words, she reminded us that it was important to be sincere. Soon  After I got this list, I  was ready to start   using some of these words instead of less important one's I had learned as a child. Needless to say,  I was ever thankful that I decided to take childcare classes while my son was very young because as I always say, children do not come with instructions!!  I wanted to share this list with all of you because we are our child's first teacher and our roles as parents are to build up our children and their sense of self value and self worth,  up with positive words, so, at the end,   Please feel free to leave comments and you may share more positive words for parent's such as myself to use with children.

The Power of a Praying Woman Book Review

The Power of a Praying Woman by Stormie

 The power of a praying woman is a book that was written by Stormie Omartian.   This book is not only awesome but deep and powerful as well! I read this book more than once.  It doesn’t matter what age you are, what your marital status is, what the condition of your body and soul is, or how long you have or have not been a believer- if you are a woman, I summit to you today to get this book in your possession.  For one, Stormie’s been a follower of the lord well over thirty years and counting, and she  knows about praying because according to the book, she’s a praying woman, and she knows from experience that there’s power in prayer.  Two, I recommend it because it also teaches you how to pray and what to say while praying for whatever it is you  need to pray about.  Three, I recommend this book because I can relate to the stories she tell and examples she gives about struggles that women face on a daily basis.  Lastly, I recommend it because when I’m praying about a situation, I can go to her book, look in the contents and find a topic related to my situation read it and find comforting words to draw strength from and find a prayer that I can use for my situation without struggling with what to say and how to say it because the prayers Stormie gives to her readers are perfectly fit for the situations given.  Stormie has something in this book that every woman can draw strength from, and these are the reasons why I recommend this book to all of you women.

Take a Trip To The Tampa's Lowery Park Zoo

On May 11, 2002 Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo introduced Wallaroo Station, a 4.5 acre Australian-themed family area, where thousands of families with young children have enjoyed an interactive Australian adventure. The hands-on, family-friendly features helped the Zoo secure top honors from two national parenting magazines: Parents, "10 Best Zoos," (2009); and Child, "The 10 Best Zoos for Kids" (2004).

Earlier this year, Wallaroo Station temporarily closed for remodeling - the first significant updating of this award-winning attraction in its 13 year history. Newly re-opened for spring, guests to the "new Wallaroo" can expect this Aussie area to be even more "Auss-ome" with new animals and upgraded amenities, including:

* a female Queensland koala named "Ceduna" (a mate for our male "Heathcliff");

* "Bushland Birds" habitat with feathered friends and Fiji-banded iguanas;

* more water features in "The Billabong" splash ground;

* redesigned cafe with "grab and go" food and beverage;

* expanded dining area with additional seats and shade canopies;

* a new nursing mothers area with baby-friendly features;

* a new and fun ride for young children - Lil' Joeys Caravan;

* new midway games and activities;

* ponies on parade (twice daily) and a goat show; and

* livestock training demonstrations with ponies and llamas.

EXPLORE

Take a trip to the "Land of Oz" and visit a variety of animals of Australia and its neighbors including koala, wallabies, cockatoos, emu, singing dogs and flying fox bats. Help welcome the newest Aussie additions - a female Queensland koala named "Ceduna," colorful birds and Fiji-banded iguanas, and take a walkabout with the wallabies in their walk-thru exhibit. The petting area features a herd of friendly goats that children can brush, pet and feed. Adjacent to the petting area, families can step into a barn that houses Haflinger horses and llamas. Don't miss the new daily pony parade, goat show and livestock training demonstrations!

PLAY

The newly upgraded "Billabong" water play area takes kids "down under" to an interactive splash zone with in-ground fountains and free standing water features. Try your hand at new midway games with the chance to win prizes and souvenirs, or go mining for gems and fossils at the new Hopper's Mining Company.

RIDE

Children can take a spin on one of five fun rides: the NEW Lil Joey's Caravan, Tasmanian Tiger Family Roller Coaster, Overland Express Kiddie Train, Boomer's Flyin' Bananas and Outback Bumper Boats.

REFRESH

Parents can enjoy added shade while their little joeys cool off in the water play area. Next door is Boomer's Cafe, a redesigned grab-and-go restaurant offering a variety of freshly prepared foods and drinks. A "mommy center," designed for nursing mothers, provides shade and privacy for infants and caregivers.

MOTIVATE YOUR CHILD ACTION PLAN BOOK REVIEW

Motivate your child action Plan Book Review

I’m doing a book review for a book called Motivate Your Child Action Plan by Dr. Scott Truansky and Joanne Miller, RN,BSN.  After reading this book, I sincerely believe they wrote this book because they have a heart to help revolutionize parents and provide with tools that will build internal motivation in the hearts of their children.

Would you like to see a positive change in your child and can use some help?   If so, then, I recommend this book to you because number one, this book is about crafting unique strategies, tools, and ideas that  helps you see things from a different perspective and help your child to move from where he or she is right now to where he or she needs to be.  Number two, this book shows you how to develop godly strategies that will maximize the work you will do with your child in order to bring about a heart change because change in the heart is much more powerful than behavior adjustment.  According to the author, their methods have worked for thousands, but the book doesn’t guarantee change will take place because children are not robots under your will.  However; it assures that you will learn how to position yourself in such a way that you will be doing all you can to influence a more positive change in your child’s behavior, and it has many illustrations that you can choose from.

Throughout the book, you will find a lot of scriptures quoted from the bible because it’s based on biblical facts, the teachings of Jesus, and Christian principles, so if you are a parent who does not practice the Christian faith, then this probably wouldn’t be a book that you may want to read, but then again, you never know.   If you’re a person who hates to read, then I would recommend that you get the audio sessions from their website. Also, you will find a lot of other resources that provide hope and encouragement for families. It also has some church solutions as well and live seminars that are helpful. http://www.biblicalparenting.org/actionplanaudio.asp

Personally, I’m happy to learn about this book because it offers so much for so little! This book to has already served as a wonderful resource for me as I’m always on the lookout for information that can help me with my parenting skills as I raise my intelligent, energetic,  autistic son because as we all know, children do not come with instructions.

PS. You can get the eBook for only $2.99 at this website. www.biblicalparenting.com/motivateyourchild.

Recap:  You will learn:
• How to build a strong conscience to strengthen internal motivation
• How faith changes kids in practical, down-to-earth ways
• Ways to help self-focused kids think of others
• A strategy to help kids who tend to blame, rationalize, or defend
• Ways to use consequences for heart change
• Specific heart-based strategies to develop responsibility and initiative

PARENTING TIPS FOR TODDLERS ON VIDEO (FREE)

Parenting isn't always an easy job because for one, children do not come with instructions!  I still remember the days of parenting my child when he was a early toddler. Sometimes, I look back and wonder how did I survive it all! The temper tantrums among many other things were so overwhelming.  With all of that being said, I really and truly understand it when parents get aggravated and frustrated all at the same time feel like pulling their hair out!  Before I had a child, I used to look at others with children and think parenting was peaches and creams all the time.  Most of the time, I never really saw the other side of it or no one even shared the ups and downs of parenting with me. So, by going through what I experienced, It made me  want to be of give some resources to mothers to be and mothers  who are totally new with parenting and can use some valuable lessons that I wished I had ran across in those days.  I ran across some material that will be a blessing to those who are desperately searching for help.

Lessons From the Sun and the Wind

The Sun and the Wind

The Wind and the Sun once had a quarrel.  The wind boasted that he was much stronger than the Sun.  He said to the sun, “I’ll show you I’m a lot stronger than you.  See that old man over there with a big coat on?  I bet I can make him take his coat off quicker than you can.”

“All right, we’ll see,” said the Sun.  So the Sun went behind a cloud but left a little hole so he could peep through and see what the Wind did.  The Wind blew and blew as hard as he could causing a terrible storm, but the harder he blew, the tighter the old man wrapped his coat about him.  Sometimes, it seemed that the coat would blow right off the old man, and sometimes it seemed the old man would topple over. In the end, the poor old Wind had to give up trying, and the sky became calm again.

Then it was the Sun’s turn. He came out from behind the cloud and smiled with sunshine at the old man.  The sky began to brighten and birds had taken cover from the wind came out and chirped sweetly at the old man.  After a while, the old man began to smile and said, “What a remarkable day this has become.”  Soon he pulled off his coat to enjoy the day.

Lesson:  Brotherly kindness and love not anger and force are perhaps the best ways to help other people do what you’d like them to do.

Happy Mother's Day printout/printable (on cardstock or stationery)

There are Angels
who care for us and guide us
You can feel their love and gentleness
As they walk through life beside us.
They do great things for us every day
They whisper in our ears,
They even hold us in their hearts
When we are filled with all our fears.
They are always there to give a hug
And try to make us smile.
They treat us with respect and love,
They treat us like their child.
God blessed me with an Angel,
I’m proud to call my own.
She’s guided me the best she can,
She’s taught me like no other,
 And I’m thankful I’m the lucky one
Who gets to call her ………….

The Choice by: MAX LUDACO

 Max Ludaco's book says it best

When God Whispers Your Name (The Bestseller Collection)

Each day is given to us as a gift from God.  what we do with it and how we may handle it, is the choice each of us make.  Let me share with you some thoughts from Max Lucado's book" When God Whispers Your Name" as to his choices for the day:

It's quiet...In a few moments the day will arrive.  In these next hours I will be exposed to the day's demands.  It is now that I must make a choice.  Because of Calvary, I'm free to choose. and so I choose.

I choose love. No occasion justifies hatred; not injustice warrants bitterness. I choose love. Today, I will love God and what God loves.

I choose joy....I will invite God to be the God of Circumstances.  I will refuse the temptation to be cynical.  I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God.  I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.

I choose peace. I will love forgiven. I will forgive so that I may live.

I choose patience... I will overlook the inconveniences of the world.  Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I'll invite him to do so.  Rather than complain that the wait is too long.  I will thank God for a moment to pray.  Instead of clinching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.

I choose kindness...  I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone.  Kind to the rich for they are afraid, and kind to the unkind for such is how God has treated me.

I choose goodness...I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one.  I will be overlooked before I will boast.  I will confess before I will accuse.  I choose goodness.

I choose faithfulness...Today, I will keep my promises.  My debtors will not regret their trust.  My associates will not question my word.  My wife or husband will not question my love, and my children will never fear their mother or father will not come home.

I choose gentleness... nothing is won by force.  I choose to be gentle.  If I raise my voice, may it only be in praise.  If I clench my fist, may it only be a prayer.  If I make a demand , may it only be of myself.

"cross words"
"when someone comes to you with an ugly attitude, return it with a kind word. Give it a try. You may be surprised at the outcome."

Proverbs 15:1 (NIV) A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stirs up anger.
